Hyperhdrosis - Sweaty Palms Treatment

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Excess sweating is referred to as hyperhidrosis. Often symptomatic over-sweating involves the palms, armpits, and plantar feet. The cause is unknown, but is thought to result from an autonomic dysfunction or “overactive sympathetic nerves”. Surgical treatment involves division of the sympathetic chain (sympathectomy) using two small incisions placed in the armpits. This surgery typically takes 45 minutes and is able to completely reverse the patient’s embarrassing or functionally disabling sweating.
